Ash Die Back Tree Replacement Scheme
Tree replacement scheme for the effects of Ash dieback
Published: 16 July 2025
Elkstone parish has received an offer from Gloucestershire County Council of free saplings as part of a project to replace those lost to Ash dieback.
These will take the form of bundles of 25 whips in mixed native species but also as half standard specimens in a limited variety of species including crab apple, wild cherry and domestic apple.
To benefit from this offer the parish wishes to identify suitable locations within the parish. This could be for the planting of hedgerows or individual trees since there is a minimum quantity of saplings which would be required in order to meet the criteria for the offer.
All expressions of interest (containing details of the land concerned) should be directed to the clerk@elkstoneparish.gov.uk no later than the 31st August 2025. Should requirements be met it is expected that the trees would become available in the autumn.
